Transparent President Obama May Have Private Swearing In

Earlier today, Twitchy.com aggregated tweets regarding President Obama’s plans to have his swearing-in be private. Remember when he promised us this?

“Sunlight is the greatest disinfectant,” Obama said. But Mr. President, what about all of the back-room meetings and secrecy in your administration? We certainly didn’t have five days to review many of the bills you’ve signed, and the meetings haven’t been in public. And now, it’s going to continue with your swearing-in.

Finally, it seems that the media isn’t too happy, either. Even they are wondering why they’re being closed out of so many things at the White House. POLITICO‘s December 7, 2012 story, “Press fear Obama private swearing-in,” seems to be an acknowledgement by the lame stream media that they may now see what is happening with the media in this administration.

Well media, this is what you supported, this is what you deserve.

  1. Even if private, Chief Justice Roberts will perform the swearing in. Regardless of feelings over Obamacare, the swearing in will be done in a Constitutional fashion. Only thing I can see different would be if he used the Koran.

  2. There will be other people in the room, including Repubicans. I don’t see this as a big deal or as anything subversive. We need to choose our battles wisely, and this isn’t one of them. If we try to turn everything the President does into a conspiracy or a war on freedom and liberty, then soon folks won’t be listening to us. Think of the story “The Boy Who Cried Wolf.” We don’t want to be too quick to or too often crying, “Wolf!”
